The vehicle was constructed in Argentina by Nestor Salerno (well known racer between 1956 and 1966). Nestor Salerno was born in Buenos Aires in 1933. He won 16 victories and raced with Ferrari 212 Barchetta and 750, Lancia D24, Maserati 200s and 300s. He competed in Formula 3 under the direction of Fangio. Competed among famous drivers such as Sterling Moss, Juan Manuel Fangio, Dan Gurney, Masten Gregory, Graham Hill, Olivier Gendebien, Mike Hawthorn, Jean Behra, Luigi Musso, Peter Collings, ...
Nestor Salerno as a company was founded in 1969 as Lotus Argentina with a license from Colin Chapman, founder and creator of Lotus. The company started to manufacture the Lotus Seven SIII.
In 1985, Nestor Salerno, bought the company. He transformed the core business to hand fabricated replicas of Maserati, Alfa Romeo and Ferrari. Four cars were displayed in the Fangio Museum.
The total weight of the vehicle (including fluids) is 850 kg. The chassis was assembled according to the specifications of the original model, welded by Hand.
The body is made of 1.5 mm aluminum, molded according to the original model, hand welded and grafted on the chassis, Superleggera Touring Method.
Front suspension is a double tubular grille, with concentric Jorsa shock absorbers with coil springs. The axle end is Torino.
Rear suspension is De Dion with Houdaille type shock absorbers.
Engine is a Maserati V8, 4.9L type 107.23.49 of 1980 with identification number AM107/23/49/*4550*. Engine produces 280 hp @ 5600 rpm. The engine donor was a Quattroporte III, VIN # AM33049A004550.The fuel tank is made from full aluminum and capacity is 70 liters.
The transmission is Maserati M128, 6-speed manual, with identification number 26454 manufactured in 2002.
The donor of the transmission was a 2002 Maserati Coupe.
The clutch assembly was purchased from Moretti Argentina (flywheel, clutch disc and plate), the thrust rotor is hydraulic, Ford Ranger brand, with a hydraulic bleed, in the engine compartment, on the firewall. The flywheel cover is made of cast aluminum.
The axle shafts have VW Vento CV joint on the outer side (wheel side) and VW Transporter on the inner side (box side). The brakes are of aluminum bell, original mold and inside has mechanism of Ford F350 year 1962.
