ALFA ROMEO 2600 spider tipo 106.01 

Presented in 1962, the Alfa Romeo 2600 spider Touring (Serie106.01) was the last Alfa Romeo with a 6-cylinder in-line twin-shaft engine powered by three carburetors capable of developing 145 horsepower.

It differed from the previous 2-liter version for the front grilles with three horizontal elements, for a single air intake on the bonnet, for the front bumper in a single piece and a side without slits, and was produced in 2257 units until 1965, year of closure of the Carrozzeria Touring in Milan.

The chassis is designed more for comfort than for an unconditional sportiness. Even tall pilots can easily get in and take a seat in the wide and comfortable seats. The beautiful round instruments, of which the two larger ones display speed and rotation number in the middle and the smaller ones to the right and left provide information about water and oil temperature, oil pressure and fuel level, complete the excellent performance. The generous trunk offers enough space for a nice vacation trip with 2 people.

The vehicle offered here was first delivered to the USA in 1965 and came back to Germany in 1981. A doctor imported it and had it extensively restored in 1995 (photo documentation is available). The Alfa Romeo was only sold to its 2nd German owner in 2014. The new enthusiast invested more than € 30,000 in optimizing the vehicle so that it is still in a dignified and very good condition today.
