Bought in 1957 by Alec Mildren straight from the Cooper factory, to compete in Australian racing events. A complete log of all the historic races is available.
The car is listed in the definitive Cooper history book, Cooper Cars, written by leading Cooper historian Doug Nye. The car is fully original, with original chassis, bodywork and all technical parts.
The car is running a 1960cc Coventry Climax engine, the F1 Coventry Climax spec for 1957, producing around 190HP. It is fully FIA compliant, running with original and ultra-rare SU DU6 carburettors, especially developed by SU for racing purposes. Renewal of FIA HTP paperwork is at the end of its process and awaiting final sign-off.
In more recent times, the car has raced successfully with the HGPCA and at Goodwood events.
Restored in the mid nineties in the famous Rob Walker colors in which Sir Stirling Moss raced it in the 1994 Australian Grand Prix demonstration race. As a result, in 2021 the car was invited to join the Sir Stirling Moss tribute at the Goodwood Revival with the current owner.
