Alfa Romeo Spider is the name under which the Italian car brand sells its roadsters since 1966. The first model was produced from 1966 to 1993.
In 1966 Alfa Romeo presented the first Spider at the Geneva Motor Show: the 1600 Spider. The chassis was based on that of a Giulia and the design came from Pininfarina and also the last model from Battista Pininfarina herself. The two-seater got a 1600 cc four-cylinder engine of 109 hp. After a competition, the model was christened Duetto.
In 1967 Dustin Hofman drives around in a Spider Duetto in the film The Graduate, which immediately made the car popular. In the same year, the Spider received its first update with the 1750 Spider Veloce, which had 113 hp. In 1968 the Spider 1300 Junior was introduced with a smaller 1290 cc engine that produced 89 hp.
With the “Fastback Spider” in 1969, the styling was changed significantly for the first time. The biggest difference was at the rear of the car, the so-called "sepia shell", was replaced by a sportier and more modern looking straight stern, the "Coda Tronca" or Spider type II. In 1971 the 2000 Spider Veloce was introduced, now with 131 hp engine. The 2000 completely replaced the 1750 in 1973 and the 1300 was replaced in 1978 by the 1600 Junior introduced in 1972.
In March 1983, a new Spider was presented with a large rubber spoiler and rear bumpers, which seriously changed the look of the car. The Junior name was dropped and the Spider now has type designations 1.6 and 2.0. This version is sometimes called Spoiler Spider. The best known name is "Spider type III" or "Spider Aerodinamica".
In 1990 it was given a thorough facelift for the last time and in 1993 the last classic Spider left the line. The model was built for 26 years.
This white 1976 Alfa Romeo Spider Junior 1300 (color: Bianco 008) has been repainted in the past, the paintwork was professionally done and is in a rare, hard and good condition.
The car came to Germany in 2018, from there it was sold to the Netherlands in January 2019 and has only had 3,500 km since then. drove.
This 1300 Spider Junior has undergone a lot of maintenance since 2018 and has therefore been brought into top condition. All vital parts have been repaired and/or replaced. The total invoices from the past 4 years amount to more than € 12,000 and are available.
Once at operating temperature, the1290 cc engine runs beautifully and has the typical Alfa genes with a fantastic sound, it is punchy, the 104 hp engine pulls well and the 5-speed gearbox shifts nicely in the rev range. Technically and mechanically completely in order, the body in excellent condition, the black interior looks neat (driver's seat slightly damaged), new floor mats with Alfa Logo and also has a glove compartment + ashtray. The hinged fabric soft top is complete and neat.
The car is equipped with 4 new Michelin HR 14 XAS tires and still has the original jack and the Italian manual.
Until 1978 the car was supplied by the factory in this version and a total of 4,557 were produced.
The true enthusiast will appreciate this beautiful Italian and will enjoy it for years to come.
