The description

Bentley Eight Saloon "Acrylic White over Parchment" Owned by the first owner for 34 years - 3 owners in total, Originally delivered in the Netherlands by the well-known Hessing company,The condition

Trade-in car.

In the mid-1980s, Bentley decided to take a slightly different direction. The Bentley Eight was conceived as a model that would attract new customers to the marque without compromising the qualities for which Bentley had become renowned. It was given a sportier appearance, a character all its own, and a price tag that was somewhat lower than that of the Mulsanne. Hardly inexpensive, of course, but an intentional choice for enthusiasts seeking a Bentley with a subtly different emphasis. It proved to be an outstanding success.

On the outside, the Eight was immediately recognizable by its distinctive wire-mesh grille, a subtle nod to Bentleys of an earlier era. The chassis also received considerable attention. The suspension and damping were revised, giving the Eight a slightly firmer, more responsive feel than its more luxurious sibling—without sacrificing the comfort expected of a Bentley.

Inside, everything remained exactly as one would expect from the marque. An abundance of leather, generous use of wood, and above all, an atmosphere of effortless serenity. The Eight featured a somewhat simpler wood veneer treatment than some of the other models in the range, yet the overall ambiance remained unmistakably Bentley. The moment you settle behind the wheel, it becomes immediately clear that every aspect of the car was designed to make long-distance journeys as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.

This particular example was delivered new in the Netherlands by Hessing in 1984. Even more remarkably, its first owner kept the car for no less than 34 years. In total, this Bentley has had just three owners throughout its lifetime. Much of the original documentation has also been preserved, including the original brown leather document wallet complete with the factory handbooks. Exactly the kind of details that demonstrate how carefully this car has been looked after over the years.

Its overall condition is best described as honest and well cared for. Simply get in, turn the key, and drive. Sometimes, it really can be that straightforward. It is known, however, that the engine has a mechanical defect. For the next owner, this presents an excellent opportunity to address the drivetrain according to their own preferences, while the underlying quality and appeal of the car remain entirely intact. Please contact us for further details regarding the engine.

Bentleys from the 1980s are increasingly appreciated for their understated elegance. No extravagant spoilers or exaggerated bodywork—just a refined British luxury saloon with exactly the right amount of character to set it apart. And perhaps that is precisely why the Bentley Eight remains such a compelling choice today.
