Iconic Auctioneers sold the 2006 Supercharged V8 Range Rover on Saturday, a vehicle that graced the hallowed royal garage for two years.
Despite its relatively high mileage, the automotive auction specialist had still set a guide price for its roof between £50,000 and £70,000, above the market average. However, a fierce bidding war between two collectors, one from the Caribbean and the other from Japan, drove the price into the six-figure range, so high that it is now the world record sale for a Range Rover from the L322 series.

Remarking on the stellar sale, the auction house said it was a "great honor and an absolute privilege to be able to offer this car, with such a fascinating history and provenance."
The 2006 Land Rover Range Rover 4.2 Supercharged Vogue SE, delivered new to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II that year, sold for £175,500, including auction premium, and featured a special factory-original trim with the following accessories:
- An exclusive hood ornament in the shape of a royal guard dog—a silver Labrador with a pheasant in its mouth, a symbol reserved only for the Queen's vehicles.
- Custom electrical and electronic systems, overhauled for safety and communication, preventing intrusion or malfunction.
- Side steps, mudguards, and interior grab handles to facilitate Queen Elizabeth II's access to the vehicle.
- Cargo space specially adapted to transport her corgis, her inseparable companions.

A source within the auction house told the Daily Mail: "There was huge interest in this Range Rover, with bids steadily rising to £150,000, leaving only two bidders, one from the Caribbean and one from Japan, who went for £156,000, winning the auction and setting a new world auction record."
The enormous winning bid not only represents a new world record, but also a significant increase over the price typically paid for a 20-year-old Range Rover.
