RILEY 9 Plus Ultra Ascot DHC

Of the many variants of the Riley Nine, certainly one of the least frequently encountered is the ’Ascot’ drophead coupe. Featuring in the Riley catalogue between 1932 – 34, it was a very attractive and well equipped small car. The ‘Ascot’ name, however, was soon to be dropped, as Austin had registered it ahead of Riley for their new Light 12/4 saloon model. This example – believed to be one of only around half a dozen survivors – was the subject of considerable refurbishment within the past five years. Since completion, it has been sparingly used, having spent some time in storage. According to documentation included, there appear to have been just four owners and the car seems to have spent some time in a museum in Sussex. Presented in very smart condition in Oxford Blue and Ivory, with a blue hood, this is a most appealing and unusual Riley with much character.
