AUSTIN Seven Big Seven 'Sixlite' Saloon

Introduced in July 1937 in response to demand for 4 door version of the Austin Seven, the Big Seven featured an entirely new engine of 900cc. Slotting into the Austin catalogue between the Seven and Ten models, the Big Seven achieved immediate success, being surprisingly lively with a top speed of over 60 mph and acceleration that shamed several more expensive rivals. The following year a 2 door version was to appear – this being known as the ‘Forlite’. Offering comfortable accommodation for four adults and very good fuel economy, the Big Seven continued in production until April 1939, after around 20,000 were produced, when it was superseded by an entirely new model – the Austin Eight, which retained the now well proven 900 cc power unit. Correctly finished in blue and black, this late model ‘Sixlite’ first registered in March 1939, has undoubtedly been very carefully used through its life, as the interior trim is original and in extremely good condition. This is a de luxe model with the sunshine roof and it would seem that the total mileage from new is only around 92,000. Full details of ownership, service history and maintenance notes are included from 1939 right up until 2015, along with a large number of bills and information on this model.
