Over the decades Bentley has produced a variety of models, each reflecting the character of the marque in its own way. In the nineteen eighties a model appeared that marked a clear step toward a more dynamic driving experience: the Turbo R. Whereas earlier Bentley models were often strongly focused on comfort, this model placed clear emphasis on handling and performance.

The Turbo R was introduced in the mid nineteen eighties and remained in production until the end of the nineteen nineties. The letter R stood for roadholding, a reference to the revised suspension and chassis setup. Compared to earlier models the car received wider tires, modified stabilizers and firmer damping. For many enthusiasts the year 1989 represents an interesting moment in the development of the Turbo R. Around this time the model received several refinements. This example features the characteristic twin round headlamps and a revised front spoiler. Beneath the hood lies the well known turbocharged version of Bentley’s V8 engine paired with an automatic transmission. The result is a driving experience entirely appropriate for a large Bentley: powerful, relaxed and effortless at higher speeds.

Bentley Turbo R models with extensive documentation and well preserved condition are becoming increasingly difficult to find. This example stands out through its comprehensive history, originality and overall presentation.
