Descrizione

This Citroën Visa GTI is a very well-presented and well-preserved example of a car that at the time was a rarity - it was the only five-door sports utility car on the market. Introduced at the 1984 Paris Motor Show, the Visa adopts the complete front end of its "cousin", the Peugeot 205 GTI, including engine, suspension, steering and brakes.

Under the bonnet hides a rabid 1.6-litre naturally aspirated inline four-cylinder engine producing 105bhp at 6250rpm, transmitted to the 13" front wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox.

The odometer on this unit reflects 191,700km from new.

EQUIPMENT AND OPTIONS

Externally, it is notable for its distinctive front grille with four headlamps, the spoiler lip, spoiler lip, two discreet spoilers and alloy wheels with 185/60 R13 tyres.

Inside, the instrumentation is comprehensive, and the seats and upholstery in a combination of grey and red reflect the sporty character of the Visa GTI. The car remains completely original except for the addition of a selex suspension for greater rigidity and the installation of Peugeot 205 rallye front brake calipers for improved braking.

An additional FAE clock has also been installed in the cockpit to measure the engine water temperature, to complement the instrument panel displays.

CONDITION

First registered on 22 November 1985, this Visa is offered for sale by its current owner, who has owned it for the last 7 years, having restored it and used it very sporadically, and with low mileage. The bodywork is in fantastic condition, and the seller points out that it has never suffered any accident damage. The red paintwork, which was freshened in 2017, is also very good, smooth and shiny throughout the car and has no marks or imperfections.

Inside, the carpet, seat fabric upholstery and door panels are in very good condition having been reupholstered during the restoration.

The dashboard is also in good condition, as are the steering wheel and controls. Mechanically, the car is completely original. The engine has been completely rebuilt from the block upwards, the whole cylinder head and its components, only 1000Kms ago.

There are no faults in any of the buttons, switches and electrical elements of the car.

The car comes with the original service books, including the maintenance book and the two keys.

SERVICE HISTORY

This Citroën Visa has a full service history, as shown in its stamped service book. After a partial rebuild and engine overhaul, it has covered just 1000Km, so there is no maintenance to be carried out on it.

It is delivered ready to use and with MOT valid until 2023.

SUMMARY

This little Citroën is a cornering machine, a car to be enjoyed at the wheel that demands full attention, without any distractions. A car that is nowadays very difficult to see on the road, making those that remain a collector's item.

The next owner of this Visa GTI will be able to drive it with no worries, as this cult classic is presented in original condition, ready and eager to put a smile on the face of whoever gets behind the wheel.
