Descrizione

Canned history of this famous and successful works rally car - This car was first registered on 20th May 1963, by K. Spicer (Works Triumph employee and hence it's original 'VC' Coventry works number plate). It then transferred to his brother-in-law, Ken Daley in 1966. He owned the car until 1987 when it was purchased by the well known rally driver and winner of the 1st Classic Marathon John Atkins. John developed the car to full Triumph Works homologation specification including all aluminium panels carried out by Chestnut House Sports Cars, in readiness for the Pirelli Classic Marathons in which he campaigned it in 1989, 1990 and 1991. The car achieved 3 Alpine Cups, 1 Gold Cup and Team awards before being sold to Rikki Proffitt (British Historic Rally Champion), who continued to successfully rally the car for several seasons of UK stage rallies. The car was then sold to Richard Dower in 2001 who continued to compete in road and stage rallies including an overall win in the Winter Trial. The car was subsequently sold to John Albiston in 2006 and used for road rallies and speed hillclimb events such as the Manx Classic Rally .The car has been featured in ious magazine articles including the 6 page Cover Story in 'Classic and Sportscar' in 1990 following its exploits on the 1989 Classic Marathon. Much of this illustrious previous history in the hands of well known drivers such as John Atkins and Rikki Proffitt, is captured in an extensive archive file supplied with the car. The car had a rebuilt 147bhp engine at end 2011 and had little use since.
