The Citroën C6 is not just another executive saloon. It is a statement, a rolling sculpture, and perhaps the last great act of French automotive audacity. And here we have one of the finest examples: a 2006 Citroën C6 3.0i V6 Exclusive, finished in the exquisitely refined “Mativoire” with sumptuous “Claudia Wadibis” beige leather. Beige on beige. Sounds understated? Perhaps. But in this car, it feels like stepping into a Parisian apartment overlooking the Seine, complete with polished Vitelli leather and Mukonto wood trim. It is elegance with a capital E.
Delivered new in Switzerland, this C6 has led a pampered life. With just 76,000 kilometers, it is barely used. The timing belt and rollers have been recently replaced, so mechanically it’s ready for decades of serene motoring. Inside and out, the car presents in pristine condition. Every surface, every stitch, every detail is neat, immaculate, and exactly as you would hope for in a flagship luxury car.
The C6 was launched in late 2005 as the long-awaited replacement for the XM. Inspired by the stunning C6 Lignage concept shown in Geneva back in 1999, it carried forward the tradition of avant-garde design that made Citroën famous. Its most distinctive feature? That concave rear window, a bold nod to the legendary Citroën CX. But unlike the XM, the C6 is not a hatchback; it is a true saloon, sleek and formal, meant to stand tall among BMW 5 Series and Audi A6 rivals.
But here’s the difference: while the Germans chased precision and speed, Citroën chased comfort and character. And they achieved it brilliantly. Reviews at the time called the C6 “a spaceship that rides on air” and “refreshingly different.” Underneath, the Hydractive 3+ suspension continuously adjusted damping to keep passengers floating serenely, no matter the road. Top Gear even mounted a camera on a C6 and drove it across a bumpy racecourse during a horse race — the footage remained perfectly stable, something a BMW 5 Series utterly failed to achieve.
Power in this model comes from the 3.0-liter ES9 V6 petrol engine, producing 211 PS (208 hp). Smooth, refined, and whisper-quiet, it pairs beautifully with the six-speed automatic. It was not built to win drag races but to deliver effortless wafting, the kind of driving where time seems to slow down and every journey becomes a calm retreat.
The C6 quickly found favor with the French state. Presidents Jacques Chirac and Nicolas Sarkozy both chose the C6 as their official car, further cementing its image as a dignified, almost presidential machine.
Only about 23,000 examples were built before production ended in 2012, making the C6 a rare sight today. This particular car, with its flawless condition, low mileage, and Exclusive trim, represents a chance to own not just a luxury car, but a piece of French cultural history. A car that dares to be different. A car that whispers rather than shouts. And isn’t that what true elegance is all about?
